Why timing can make mornings feel easier
Sleep usually moves through repeating stages, from lighter sleep to deep sleep and REM. A cycle is often estimated at about 90 minutes, so waking near a cycle boundary may feel less jarring than waking in the middle of deep sleep.
Five or six cycles gives most adults 7.5–9 hours of sleep. Four cycles is shown as a shorter option, not a nightly target.
This calculator is a planning estimate, not medical advice. Sleep cycles vary between people and across the night. If sleep problems continue, consider speaking with a healthcare professional.
